Before the Tablets of Stone.

Many of us were taught that the Ten Commandments were given to Moses, to be given to the "House of Jacob/Israel". But that wasn't the case at all. Exodus 19:5 The Lord spoke to Moses the requirement of the covenant, which He relayed to the "Children of Israel". Then Moses followed the Lord's instructions, and gathered the People at the base of the mount. Exodus 19:18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire; and the whole mount quaked greatly. Exodus 20:20 And God spoke all these words saying, I Am the Lord thy God which brought the out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage and the Ten Commandment followed.
Exodus 21 covers the Judgements which are General Laws.  Exodus 24:4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord.... 24:6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; half the blood was sprinkled on the alter. 7 And He took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the People; and they said "All that the Lord has said will we do, and be obedient". 8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the People, and said, "Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord has made with you concerning all these words".
The point? The covenant was given by the Lord, to the People. Individuals must pass the information to family members and pass it down from generation to generation. A break-down cannot be blamed on the school, or church. Blood covenants last with the Lord, for as long as its remembered.
