It is closing in on 4 decades since learning the three "General Rules" of guard duty. The first and most important one was; I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved. This "Rule" came back to me while conducting Bible time. The Saints already know that they are to be "Watchmen" on the wall.
1Thes.2:14-16 is a reminder to be as wise as the Serpent, and as meek as a dove. It mentions Jew, but these were Kenites, and they are quite active today; take heed. 1Thes. 4:11-And study/strive to be quiet and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you. Take heed of those that desire to do/run your business, or those that desire to work your hands.
1Thes.4 deals with sleep. This is what kicked my military mind into the now. Sleeping on guard duty is forbidden; it has cost lives, and the penalty can be very severe. Often this Scripture is misused in an effort to support the "Tradition of Men", Vs. the Word. Over the past 100 yrs. many Christians have been asleep, aka little apostasy. There is a difference between asleep, and dead in Christ. Those asleep are alive in the flesh, on earth, right now.
1Thes.5:5 We are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 5:6, Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us WATCH and be SOBER.
