Prov. states that a righteous man leaves an inheritance for his children's children. This is both physical and Spiritual. They will need wealth, but more importantly, they need to know who/whom they are in Christ Jesus.
Leaders do a dis-service when they use "New Bibles", and teach that the Old Testament[Part One] is old and out-dated. A New Covenant doesn't cancel out the previous ones-especially when all of the Promises and Covenants are in Part One.
The Ten Commandments begins with The Lord[YHVH] identifying Himself. Then covers idols; making, and worship. Deut.5:9[and Ex:20], The Great I AM states that "He is a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers, upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me."
People that are in the game, called life, should know the Rules. Cain attempted to make his on rules for offerings-and it was rejected. We should know what the Lord consider to be love and hate. He considers idols/and worship to be hatred to Himself; and it causes the iniquity to be visited upon the children.
"Honour thy father and mother: that thy days may be long upon the land." Ephes.6:1 says, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. It is the First Commandment, with promise. This means that the parents job is to walk up-right before the Lord, and explain to the children the Rules for their grandchildren to live by - for a long time; - - - - - - - this is a Good Inheritance.
